Dressing the Look

We would like to show you two options on the use of combining dark tones with another colour accent, like the khaki used here. This room suggests a lounge area off a dining or similar area. The backdrop or “blank canvas” again is a soft, versatile tone against the charcoal accent. We have minimised the use of charcoal and combined a freshness of cream textures and vellum for light and added interest.
We have selected the timber flooring to emphasise the textural qualities of the wallpaper, organic print of the curtain and wool rug. The use of bamboo horizontals in the blind replicates the lines of the timber and ties the patterns together. As in most cases, the blind offers texture and interest as well as diffusion of light, along with the carefully selected buttoned ottoman, faux fur and waffle throw fabric. The paint colour is Satin Slipper by Farrow & Ball.

TIP: You will see we use some sort of a blind in most cases. We assume privacy is required if in urban areas, and security is often requested in rural. We just love the way natural light works its way through the textures. When considering your room, look at the way the light comes into the room and at what time of day. When the glass lamp is lit the blobs of colour appear deeper, if the same lamp is lit by natural light it will reflect colour and light all around the room.
