STOP PRESS: November 2016. We are proud to share with you the news that after being shortlisted for two categories of the Northern Design Awards, we have just been awarded the Residential Interior Design top prize. This follows our Hotel Interior Design award atone the UK Property Awards in October.
Here at the studio we’ve been celebrating after hearing the fantastic news that we have been named as finalists in two award schemes for our work on the Gilpin Hotel Spa Lodges project.
Last month we achieved a Hotel Interior Design category prize in the highly-acclaimed United Kingdom Property Awards – and we’re over moon that we‘ve now been selected for the Northern Design Awards shortlist.
We’re absolutely thrilled that our work on the Gilpin Hotel’s Spa Lodges has been recognised both in the UK and internationally and are extremely proud that the UK Property Awards judges described the winning designs as being “amongst the most innovative, exceptional, and ambitious projects of 2016.” We are also delighted that the Gilpin’s architect Ben Cunliffe also won a UK Property Award for his work on the scheme.
The Gilpin Spa Lodge scheme nestles in the hotel’s stunning private grounds near Bowness. Each of the five individually-designed detached timber cabins, has its own hot tub, sauna, steam shower room and luxury bathroom – and we were given the remit to design the interiors and to maximise the amazing Lakeland views that can be seen from each of the lodges.
Concepts for each interior were inspired by Sarah’s own global travels and represent different stages of her own journey, with themes taken from her Scandinavian roots and time spent in the Middle East, America and North Africa.
In our signature style, we adopted an eclectic approach, both to the individual design of the lodges and to the selection of different fabric houses and other suppliers to create an interesting mix of texture and colour, resulting in bespoke schemes that are each unique.
We were very much inspired by the heritage of the area and the pedigree of the Gilpin Hotel and set out to create five exclusive lodges that would soothe mind, body and soul. Whatever the season or weather, the Gilpin Spa Lodges sit comfortably within their environment and guests leave with a feeling of wellbeing.
The Spa Lodges have for us been an interesting and rewarding project and we took great pleasure at arriving at solutions which we believe to be both beautiful and practical. We have thoroughly enjoyed providing our creative input into this exciting and innovative project and are extremely proud that the work we have invested in the Lodges has been recognised in this year’s UK Property Awards and in the Northern Design Awards.
Having worked with the Gilpin’s owners, the Cunliffe family, for the past 15 years, we enjoy a great working relationship and it’s wonderful that the Spa Lodges, have gained such positive recognition.
