Open Plan Interior Design at Randers

An open plan space in the home usually throws up issues of continuous floor covering. The areas require to be malleable to use, they require diversity of design, but like everything else, finishes require looking after.

Every six months it requires a deep clean and a refinish of the manufacturers wax sealant. There are loose matting between spaces, especially outdoors. In one direction you can go from the kitchen to the cloakroom and utility. There are stone or tile finishes in there. The other you can head back through the house into the lounge areas and bedrooms, where there is a good quality wool twist.

Texture and layering are the bones of our interiors at Nielsen House. We create a subtle back drop or canvas, Sarah likes to call it, not always neutral, but tones of colour that embrace your personal pieces and furnishings. The idea is that the home becomes flexible to your changing lifestyles or tastes. The loose furnishing can alter, cushions, throws and lamps can come and go, but fundamentally the space still feels familiar and you know you are “at home.
