Scandinavian Inspired Interior Design

Originating from Scotland and the influence of Sarah’s father’s home country of Denmark ( Hence why the home was named “Randers” as her father’s birthplace in the centre of Jutland), Sarah studied for a BA hons in Fine Art and Design and developed her creative passion into an interpretation of nature and the exploration of the perfection of design, colour and texture in her surroundings. For Sarah, the environment makes the difference between pleasure and discomfort.

Randers is designed with a Scandinavian approach to a Lakeland chalet. The deep dropping eaves and cantilevered first floor balcony protect the building from the elements. When considering re-building the property, Sarah decided on a timber build. The house could not be fully sustainable or ecologically finite, however the timber frame provided them with insulation, reduced heat loss and a more controllable waste efficiency. It also gave them a sense of the environment they loved and the easy, soft feel of being at home as if on holiday and surrounded by the great outdoors, with large opening concertina windows and doors connecting the interior to the exterior the towering trees that surrounded them often felt like they were knocking to come in and sit by the log burner.
