Contemporary Luxury Lakeside Living – Global Residential Project award 2025 shortlisting
Finding our “Sweet Spot”
This project showcases the epitome of modern luxury interior design by leading Interior Designer Sarah Jane Nielsen and Nielsen House. Perfectly blending contemporary elegance with the natural beauty of Cumbria, creating a truly exceptional Lakeside home in the heart of the Lake District National Park. We are hugely proud to be Shortlisted for the Global Luxury Residential Awards 2025

We never know when we are on the cusp of an opportunity to design and deliver a truly personal and unique home. As with every successful relationship it begins with a casual and chance meeting, a generic chat, either at school sports day or a child’s first school performance, or the opening of a friend’s new restaurant.
Our potential clients have usually been introduced to us through commonality of location, school, family or interests. We discover common thoughts or understanding and shared interests. We debate aspirations to find our comfortable place or “sweet spot” during the exciting journey of discovery. We never know where the next shared moment of pleasure or pain will take this relationship: casual friend, lifelong soul mate or professional partnership. However the future unfolds, we want nothing but mutual joy, success and fulfilment as an outcome. If this relationship is going to deliver the very best home or life investment property possible, we need to find the “sweet spot”.

Our Lakeside Luxury residence is the result of a close to 20-year relationship through three generations. One of successes, failures, challenges, growth and discovery. Every detail is shaped by bespoke interior design principles tailored to each client’s lifestyle and values, as well as the level of discerning expectation and detailing to be achieved. Not just in the fabric of their home but in theirs, their family and friend’s lifestyle choices: comfort, ease, familiarity, love, discretion plus luxury as they celebrate all life’s achievements and what life holds dear as they move into the later stages of their lives together.

It is so important to us personally that we have managed to ask the right questions, dig a little deeper than thoughts, magazine cut-outs, Pinterest boards and what the Joneses have achieved. We rely on years of interior project experience to anticipate and highlight hurdles which allow us to confidently propose solutions or alternatives to every design conundrum likely to raise its head. Through lengthy discussions and illustration, it is our responsibility to instil confidence, direction and commitment to a successful Home Design journey.
