Proud to Be Shortlisted for 2025 International Design Awards

As the founder and creative director of Nielsen House, I am both honoured and humbled to share that we have been shortlisted for the International Design and Architecture Awards 2025. It is a proud moment for our studio, and we feel incredibly fortunate to work on inspiring projects that elevate us onto the global design stage.

Our longstanding collaboration with Gilpin Hotel and Lake House led to an incredible win in 2021 for the Gilpin Spa Suites. That same year, we were also proud recipients of an SBID Award. Reflecting on our journey, it is truly rewarding to see how far we have come through years of design evolution and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Looking back at the Gilpin Spa Suites and, before them, the Gilpin Spa Lodges in 2016, we are reminded of the incredible milestones we’ve reached. That year, in collaboration with Ben Cunliffe Architecture, we were honoured to win an NDA Interior Design and Architecture Award. It brings me great joy to see that these designs have stood the test of time, retaining their distinctive character and relevance in today’s ever-evolving design landscape.

Being considered for the final of “Hospitality Designer of the Decade 2021” was a celebration of the passion, precision, and purpose that define our work within Residential and Hotel Interior Design.

In today’s ever-evolving design landscape, awards like these serve as powerful reminders of our purpose. They recognise more than just aesthetic achievement, highlighting instead the innovation, intention and global dialogue we aim to contribute to, particularly through our work as modern five-star hotel room interior designers.

A Moment of Connection and Celebration

Each project we create is part of a much larger and richly woven tapestry of global design. Whether it is a serene lakeside retreat, such as our Lakeside Luxury project shortlisted for Luxury Residential Project 2025, or a bold hotel concept delivered at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Oman several years ago, these moments of connection elevate our craft and inspire us to keep pushing boundaries.

International awards hold great significance for us. They serve as a reminder to celebrate our work and the unique projects that connect us with a global community of talented designers and architects. Through these connections, we are able to share experiences, learn from one another and explore the potential for future collaborations that combine complementary skills.

Fuel for Creativity and Courage

Being shortlisted in the Renovation and Restoration Project category for 2025 with our Lakeland Villa restoration inspires us to reflect with pride and look ahead with bold ambition. Like many of our clients, this homeowner was seeking their own personal boutique hotel experience after numerous visits to Gilpin. Their vision was clear; a classical home where they could entertain friends and family, set within their own private corner of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is the Lake District National Park.

It challenges us to continuously refine our approach, explore new technologies and respond to the ever-evolving expectations of modern guests. To be considered among the best hotel interior designers, we approach every room as a story, carefully told through texture, space, light and atmosphere. Recognition of this kind validates the level of detail and dedication that goes into each of those stories.

Looking Ahead, Together

One of the greatest gifts of international recognition is the opportunity it brings for meaningful connection and collaboration. We are continually inspired by the exceptional talent across our industry, and we view this shortlisting not only as a milestone for our studio but also as an invitation to keep learning, growing and co-creating within the wider design community.

With Heartfelt Thanks

To the judging panel and the organisers of this award, thank you. And to our wonderful clients, collaborators and colleagues, this moment is shared with you. Your trust and creativity make everything we do possible.
