Lakeland Elegance

Passionate about classic designs, the owner of this five bedroom property desired a chic, stylish space with impact.

Many of our projects have a hint of Scandinavian style throughout; for this home, the only influence is in the minimal, modern kitchen with soft grey tones and handleless units. Combined with the skylights, this makes the room feel spacious and light.

In the dining room, a soft palette of green and neutral tones was used, highlighted with accent blue in the bespoke dining chairs and side lamps. Luxurious patterned curtains were chosen to frame the window drawing attention to the stunning views beyond. With an impressive stone fireplace and beige log burner, the space is perfect for both summer and winter entertaining.

We carried the neutral tones with hints of blue and green through to the lounge. Here the colours are found in the layered fabrics and statement lampshades. The space is the ideal balance of comfort and style. The striking work of local artist Libby Edmonson brings added vibrancy to the room and reminds you of the view from the window, which floods the room with light.

Upstairs, each bedroom has a unique scheme. The master is a calming grey, with flecks of lavender and lilac in the soft furnishings. This scheme allows the ornate, shabby chic, French furniture to take pride of place, dressed with beautiful glass side lamps.

In contract, we used bold yellows and purples in the children’s room. The exquisite floral-printed wallpaper makes a memorable statement, and paired with a stunning collection of textured lamps; the space accomplishes both sophistication and fun. The pale grey carpet softens the busy walls which are brought to life by yellow and purple cushions.

Perhaps our favourite space in this stunning home is the entrance hall and stairway. The bespoke, handmade tile floor is an utterly classic design, and yet the colour scheme is one of a kind. We used soft blue and yellow, a modern choice that really works. The floor stands out against the crisp white walls and bannister. The striped grey runner carpet leads you up to another beautiful bespoke piece, the stained glass window which perfectly captures the light and colours from outside.
